Eduard Brassin 1:48 AIM-9D Sidewinder is a resin set of American guided air-to-air missiles. It is an armament accessory for fighter models, not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings resin AIM-9D Sidewinder short-range guided air-to-air missiles in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane kit but an armament detail set for adding weapons to a model of an American fighter, typically a Phantom from the Vietnam War era. The package usually contains four complete missiles, the forward control surfaces are cast separately and the lens of the seeker head tends to be in clear resin. Photo-etched parts and decals are enclosed.
The AIM-9D Sidewinder was an infrared-guided short-range missile, a version intended above all for the US Navy. In its typical four-round fit it completed the armament of Cold War fighters and is a characteristic element of the external stores of the aircraft of that time.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Use the enclosed aid, if it is included, to glue the forward control surfaces precisely. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and mask the clear head only at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin detail set. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
