Alois Vasatko, the first commander of the Czechoslovak Wing of the RAF is a decal set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker AML Decals, devoted to the aircraft of this fighter pilot.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale that maps the machines connected with one of the most successful Czechoslovak fighter pilots. The set covers the three types Alois Vasatko flew: the American Curtiss Hawk 75 in French service, and the Hawker Hurricane and the Supermarine Spitfire in the RAF. Color drawings showing the placing of the national insignia, the identification letters and the personal markings are included. It is not a kit but an addition to a model.
Alois Vasatko was among the pilots who went into action first in France, where he flew the Curtiss Hawk 75, and after the fall of France carried on in Great Britain. There he served with No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron RAF, which he later commanded, and in 1942 he became the first commander of the Czechoslovak Fighter Wing. He was killed in June 1942 in combat over the English Channel. The three types on one sheet therefore make it possible to build a complete trio of models documenting his career.
Each of the three types has a different color scheme, so plan the French and the British camouflage separately. Apply the decals to a perfectly cured gloss varnish, cut the motif out closely and, after soaking in warm water, transfer it with tweezers. Settle the personal markings and the identification letters according to the drawing, and on curved surfaces a decal softener helps. Once dry, varnish it with a matte coat and only then add washes, exhaust streaks and chipped paint.
Decals are a modeling addition. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
