A figure of a Norman cow in 1:48 scale, the first piece in the animal line. An accessory for a rural scene or for a diorama with equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
An animal figure from the line devoted to farm animals, carried as piece number one. The real subject is Norman cattle, a breed that belongs to the picture of the French countryside as naturally as hedgerows and apple trees.
A scene with equipment or with soldiers often looks like a display base, because everything else that was in the landscape is missing from it. A grazing animal supplies scale, fills the empty area and tells the viewer where the scene takes place. A standing figure also offers a natural way of leading the eye to the main model.
Norman cattle are recognized by piebald markings in red-brown and dark patches over a white base and by darker spots around the eyes. At this scale keep the pattern suggestive rather than literal, otherwise the animal gains a hard outline. Work from the light base toward the dark patches, keep the transitions soft and finish by passing a fine dry brush over the back. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Leave the muzzle and the horns until last; a wet shine on the nose does more for the impression of a living animal than the most careful coat.
The package contains the figure only. Paints, glue and the base are not included, unless stated otherwise.
