A decal sheet in 1:48 scale intended for models of the Arado Ar 196 floatplane. It holds classic wet decals, which after soaking in water slide off the backing paper onto a finished painted model. The sheet is an aftermarket accessory, and you will not find a kit in the package.
The Arado Ar 196 was a German two-seat floatplane with a radial engine, brought into service at the end of the 1930s as the shipboard reconnaissance machine of large warships. It took off from a catapult on deck and after alighting on the water it was hoisted back onto the ship by crane. Besides reconnaissance and spotting for naval gunfire it served for patrolling coastal waters and escorting convoys, where the armament it carried came in useful as well. It was operated by naval aviation units and to a lesser extent it also reached further users in central and southeastern Europe. The finishes ranged from the typical two-tone naval upper camouflage with a light underside to the later variants of coastal units.
First finish the paintwork and overspray the model with a gloss clear coat. Soak the cut-out design in lukewarm water, let it rest and slide it into place. On the floats and the struts the handling is harder, so work with small pieces and help yourself with a damp brush. Around engraved lines and rivets a decal softener helps. Unify the surface with a matte varnish at the end; on naval machines a matte to semi-matte sheen with a fine accenting of the panels looks good.
It is a separate decal sheet. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
