Responsibility details are not available.
An extensive set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazed areas of a model of the four-engine Avro Lancaster bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory that deals with the most laborious part of painting the whole model. The Lancaster has glazing in several places on the airframe, and in its double-sided version the set covers the glazing from the outside and the inside, so that the frames hold the right shade on both sides.
The Avro Lancaster was a British heavy bomber of the Second World War, powered by four liquid-cooled V12 engines. A characteristic feature of the design is the long unbroken bomb bay and the extensive glazing: a glazed nose, the pilot's cockpit with side windows and rotating gun turrets. It is precisely the combination of many glazed parts and large smooth areas that makes a model of the Lancaster one of the more laborious kits in this scale.
Wash and degrease the clear parts first, then let them dry thoroughly. Lift the masks with tweezers, lay them on dry and press them down with a blunt tool, a toothpick or a wooden skewer. With a large number of parts it pays to work section by section and to mark straight away which pieces go inside and which outside. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy overspray forms a ridge at the edge that is visible once the mask is off. Remove the masks as soon as possible after the paint has flashed off.
The package holds the masks alone. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
