1:48 B-24D Liberator is an Eduard masking set for the extensive glazing of the American four-engine bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set from Eduard for the model of the Consolidated B-24D Liberator in 1:48. The four-engine bomber has an unusually large glazed area from the nose through the pilot's compartment to the waist positions, so masking it by hand takes a whole evening. Pre-cut masks shorten that work to a moment.
The D version was the first production variant deployed in large numbers. It carries the narrow high-aspect-ratio Davis wing, twin vertical tail surfaces and a bomb bay with roller doors. Aircraft of this series went into history with the low-level raid on the oil facilities in Romania in 1943. The crew numbered more than ten men and the waist gun positions stayed open in flight.
Spray the extensive glazing section by section and let the paint set between sections, otherwise a run will form on the vertical surfaces. Cover the remaining glass areas with tape or liquid mask as soon as the masks are in place. After removing them, inspect the edges with a magnifier; a small overflow can be corrected with a pointed brush. Apply liquid mask in a thin layer; a thick skin tears when it is peeled off and leaves residue behind.
