A photo-etched engraving template for the vertical tail surface of the B-24D/J Liberator 1:48 serves for restoring engraved lines after sanding. It is a modeling aid, not a kit and not a part of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A thin etched metal sheet that is laid against the vertical tail surface of a model of the four-engine B-24 Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale and serves as a guide for a scriber. It is used where the original engraving was lost while sanding a joint or filling, and has to be restored in the right shape. It is not a part that stays on the model: it is a tool for repeated use.
Restoring engraving by eye almost always ends with a wavy line or a scriber that has slipped. A metal template holds its shape, the scriber rests against it and the line comes out straight and at the same depth as its surroundings. It is precisely the large tail surfaces of the Liberator that are the place where most detail is lost when a joint is sanded, and missing engraving then shows as soon as it comes to a wash.
Attach the template to the part with masking tape so that it does not move during the work. Use a sharp scriber or the broken tip of a scalpel and draw it in two or three passes very lightly, because the first pass only marks the track. Level the resulting burr with fine abrasive paper or a glass fiber pencil and clean the area before painting. Keep the etched sheet flat, because a bent template will never guide a scriber accurately again.
This is a modeling aid, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
