This full photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard concentrates on the landing gear areas of the American Consolidated B-24J Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale. The accessory refines the areas around the landing gear, which are permanently in view on a finished model standing on its wheels, and it is not a kit in its own right: the base kit of the aircraft has to be bought as well.
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator became the most produced American four-engine bomber of the Second World War. Its slender Davis wing gave it long range, thanks to which it operated over Europe, the Mediterranean and the Pacific, and it also proved itself on patrols over the Atlantic against submarines. The most numerous was the J version with a nose turret. Unlike the B-17 the Liberator stood on nosewheel landing gear, and the massive main legs retracted into the wing, which makes the whole area an element of the model that cannot be overlooked.
Bend the photo-etched parts over a straight edge or in a bender so that the folds stay clean and parallel. Fix them to the plastic with cyanoacrylate glue applied in small dots; secure larger areas with the gel version, which gives time to adjust the position. Work out the order of the steps in advance, because the landing gear assembly goes together in sequence.
