Decals for two Mitchells in 1:48 scale, the H cannon version from the Asian theater and a surviving machine of the J series.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the war the B-25 medium bomber split into two entirely different roles. While the glazed nose served classic bombing from altitude, the attack versions received a nose full of gun barrels and hit targets from minimum height. The H version took this philosophy furthest when it received a 75 mm cannon in the fuselage, whose firing shook the whole aircraft noticeably.
The markings of the machine Barbie III refer to the aircraft of Lieutenant Colonel Robert T. Smith from 1944, when the fighting was over Burma and China. The second option belongs to an aircraft of the J series that has survived to the present day and is kept in flying condition, so it can be met at air displays. One sheet therefore brings together a historic operational machine and a living witness.
Check that your kit matches the version you have chosen, because the nose differs fundamentally between the two machines and a conversion would be unpleasant once the decals were on. Coat the base with a gloss layer, let it cure overnight and only then start work. When you have finished, unify the sheen with an overcoat according to how well preserved a machine you want to show.
Two such different guises of one type are a temptation to build both and display them side by side. If you take that on, separate the decals right at the start and store them apart, because it is unpleasantly easy to swap the codes between the two machines, and putting that right means lifting a dried design off again.
