A detail set of photo-etched parts for a model of the twin-engine B-26K Invader attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It is not an airplane kit but an accessory fitted to a model you already own. According to the code series it is a full photo-etched set, that is the more extensive version, not a smaller pre-painted Zoom set. Watch out for a mix-up: a masking set for the same aircraft at the same scale carries the same name, and that is a different product with different contents. The exact parts list is given in the instructions supplied with the set.
The B-26K Invader was a rebuilt version of the older twin-engine Douglas A-26 Invader attack aircraft. The rebuild took in a strengthened structure, reworked wings and modernized equipment, so that the aircraft could handle demanding use in the 1960s, that is long after its original service had ended. On this type the cockpit, the instrument panel and the interior are among the areas where photo-etched parts show the most.
Go through the set with the instructions first and sort the parts by stage of the build; most of the photo-etch belongs in the interior and has to be fitted before the fuselage is closed up. Cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends over a metal ruler. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied on the tip of a wire, while on larger areas two-part epoxy glue serves well, because it gives time to settle the part. Leave the painted parts as they are; degrease the bare photo-etched areas before spraying and use a primer for metal. Where the photo-etch replaces a plastic part, cut the original away and level the area.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
