This set of photo-etched metal parts is meant for refining the plastic kit of the Soviet BA-10 armored car in 1:48 scale. The product is not a kit and the base model does not come with it - it is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler, cut for the Unimodels kit.
The BA-10 was a Soviet heavy armored car built on the chassis of a three-axle truck. It carried a rotating turret with a gun and machine-gun armament and was used for reconnaissance and for supporting infantry from the end of the 1930s. Its typical elements are the long fenders, the steps, the covers of the spare wheels and a quantity of grab handles and loops on the hull - that is, exactly what a plastic kit manages only at an exaggerated thickness.
The best result comes from a thorough exchange. Cut the original plastic fender or flange away, level the area with abrasive paper on a backing and only then fit the photo-etched part. Half the work happens before the glue: try the part dry several times, straighten the bends and check that no gap arises anywhere. Smaller gaps can be filled with a thin layer of putty once it has dried and then sanded over. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer for metals. On this vehicle a dusty weathering concentrated on the fenders and the lower parts will stand out.
