SBS Model 1:48 Hispano HA-1109/HA-1112 K.1L Tripala — a conversion set in resin lets you build the Spanish licensed variant of the 109 with its characteristic three-blade propeller.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin conversion set from the Hungarian manufacturer SBS Model for 1:48 scale. With it you turn a Messerschmitt Bf 109 airframe kit into the Spanish licensed variant HA-1109/HA-1112 K.1L, nicknamed Tripala after its three-blade propeller. It is a set for more experienced modelers: it expects work on the donor kit and the usual handling of resin castings.
After the Second World War the Spanish company Hispano Aviacion carried on building machines derived from the Bf 109 under its own designation. The K.1L version was given the Hispano-Suiza 12Z engine with a three-blade propeller (tripala means three-blade in Spanish), which made it a distinctive transitional form between the German 109 and the later HA-1112 M1L Buchon with the Merlin engine. The machines served with the Spanish Air Force for a good many years after the war.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent to remove any mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and sand the mating faces. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and keep dry-fitting as you go. When sanding resin, protect your airways and work wet. Plan the order of assembly before gluing, so that the conversion parts do not clash with the way the donor kit goes together.
A conversion set — the donor kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
