Responsibility details are not available.
This product is a standalone sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal. It is neither a model nor a kit: the decals serve for finishing a model of the Hawk jet trainer in the T.1A version that is already built and painted. The sheet gives the modeler the chance to assign a finished machine to a particular unit instead of the general markings from the box.
The Hawk is a British single-engined two-seat jet with a stepped cockpit for pupil and instructor. It was designed as an advanced trainer with good performance at low level and with simple maintenance. The T.1A version is a modification of the basic training form that allows air-to-air armament to be carried, so that the machines can if need be also be used to supplement air defense. The Hawk became a long-serving type in the British training system and in various stages of development has stayed in use for decades.
The base is what decides. Decals are applied onto a glossy surface; on matte paint a thin layer of air stays under the carrier film and a visible matte frame forms around the decal, the so-called silvering. Spray the model with clear gloss varnish before the decal work, therefore, and let it dry properly, ideally overnight. Soak the decal briefly, let it release on the paper and move it to the model together with the backing paper, not with tweezers gripping the film. Blot the excess water away with a paper tissue from the center toward the edges. Once dry, go over the whole model with the varnish that matches the final surface you want.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints, glue and varnishes are not part of it.
