A small but rewarding item: seat belts for the pilot's seat, executed in steel. The designation STEEL in the name refers to the material of the sheet, which holds the position you bend it into better than softer alloys do. An empty seat is visible on a model at first glance and the belts will do more about that than many another thing. They are sold separately, outside any box with a kit.
The pilot of the Airacobra sat in a fairly cramped cockpit between the forward weapons section and the engine housed at his back. He strapped himself into the seat with a multi-point harness, whose straps stayed loosely thrown over the edges of the shell once the machine was left. It is precisely this careless shape that makes a model alive and sets it apart from a mechanically regular plastic assembly.
First draw the belts gently between your fingernails so that they lose their flatness, and then shape them around the round handle of your tweezers. A drop of super glue the size of a pinhead is enough to join them. Bend the buckles only at the very end and lead the bend so that it stays visible from above, which is where the cockpit is mostly looked into from. The straps will gain depth if you go over them with a thin glaze after spraying and wipe the excess off.
