Eduard 1:48 – a masking set for the Bell P-39Q Airacobra. Templates for painting the glazing frames, without the TFace designation.
Responsibility details are not available.
The basic masking set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for this American fighter. It serves to make the cockpit framing come out straight and sharp after spraying. The set does not carry the TFace designation, which with this brand marks the form that handles the inner side of the glazing as well – if you want the cockpit perfect from the inside too, look for the variant with that name.
Among the fighters of the Second World War the Bell P-39 Airacobra was an unusual machine. Its engine sat behind the pilot, in the middle of the fuselage, and the shaft to the propeller ran under the cockpit floor. Thanks to that a heavy cannon firing through the propeller hub fitted into the nose, and the aircraft was one of the first American types to get a nose landing gear. The Q version was the most numerous and a large part of production headed to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, where the Airacobra earned a reputation as a feared machine both against ground targets and against fighters.
The cockpit of the Airacobra has car-type doors, so it pays to paint them separately from the fuselage and to join them only at the end. Seat the templates on a clean, degreased surface. Leave a longer pause between coats of paint so that the edge does not lift when the next piece is laid on.
