Self-adhesive masks for spraying the crosses on the Bf 110 C/D/E in 1:48 scale make it possible to apply the German markings in paint onto a model of the early Zerstorer.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for the early production series of the twin-engine Messerschmitt. The cross appears in paint, so after dusting with pigment or after a wash is applied, no edge of film stands out anywhere and the surface of the model stays unbroken. The set is prepared for the three oldest production series of the type, which are related to one another in shape.
The C series with DB 601A engines made up the equipment of the Zerstorer formations over Poland, France and England, where it ran hard into single-engine defenders and lost its reputation as an unreachable machine. The D version received an additional fuel supply for long flights over the sea and to the north, while the E was used as a fighter-bomber with racks under the wing and the fuselage. All three belong to the periods when German aircraft had crosses with a pronounced light border. Markings like that are hard to put together from decals, because a light carrier film rarely covers the base perfectly.
Over a stencil you spray thinner and at a lower pressure than you are used to with camouflage. Direct the stream square on to the surface, not obliquely under the edge, and rather add one more pass than one heavy coat. A heavy application runs under the edge and leaves a smeared line once it is uncovered. Try the setting of the airbrush in advance on a piece of scrap plastic.
