A resin engine bulkhead for the German Messerschmitt Bf 110 heavy fighter aircraft in the C and D versions, 1:48 scale, from the maker Quickboost. It is not a model of the airplane but a precisely cast detail part that will sharpen up the look of the engine bay behind the powerplant on a build with the cowling left open.
The Bf 110 was a twin-engine bomber destroyer (Zerstörer) deployed by the Luftwaffe in the Second World War as a heavy fighter, a fighter-bomber and a night fighter. The C and D versions were powered by a pair of Daimler-Benz DB 601 inverted V12 engines. The engine bulkhead separates the powerplant from the airframe and it shows above all when a modeler chooses an open cowling or a diorama scene with maintenance going on. The resin part adds a fine casting of a kind an injection mold cannot manage.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, separate them from the casting block carefully and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the bulkhead in the base shade of an engine bay, accentuate the edges lightly by drybrushing and support the depth of the details with a flowing wash.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
