An injection-molded plastic kit of the German twin-engine heavy fighter Messerschmitt Bf 110G-2 in the popular 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The model has a finely engraved surface texture, a detailed cockpit and clear canopy glazing; the large 1:48 format lets every detail show. The exact contents of the package and the number of marking options differ between releases, so check them for the particular box.
The Bf 110 was a German two to three seat heavy fighter (Zerstörer) used by the Luftwaffe throughout the Second World War. The later G-2 version was powered by a pair of Daimler-Benz DB 605 engines and served as a day heavy fighter and as a fighter-bomber. Its heavy forward armament made it a feared destroyer of bomber formations. The machine saw action on many fronts from Western Europe to the eastern battlefields.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and join them with thin modeling cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting; it unifies the surface and brings out the engraved lines. An airbrush and masking tape suit the two-color camouflage of the upper surfaces and the broken-up canopy; the cockpit glazing comes out well once the frames are painted. Fine-tune the patina and the wear with a wash and dry pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
