A masking set for the control surfaces of a Bf 109E model in 1:48 scale, worked out for the Wingsy Kits kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Control surfaces are among the places where hand work shows up most often on a model. Rudders, flaps and ailerons have their own outline on the real machine and stand out from the surrounding surface when painted, but cutting such a shape out of tape by hand gives a slightly different result every time. Ready-made masking elements do away with that work: the shape is the same on both halves of the model and the edge comes out sharp.
Masking elements for the control surfaces of a Bf 109E model in 1:48 scale. The set is worked out for the kit from the maker Wingsy Kits, so on models from other makers the shapes may not fit. The extent of the elements, their position on the model and the recommended procedure are given in the instructions in the package.
The masks are applied before spraying, to a clean, degreased and dry surface. Lift the elements off the sheet with pointed tweezers and press the edges down carefully so that the paint does not creep under them. Spray in thin coats; one heavy coat will creep sooner than three light ones. Take the mask off while the coat has only just dried, and pull it away at an angle across itself rather than straight up; after a longer time the edge of the paint peels away with it. Even out any resulting transition with a thin wash.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
