A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British brand Xtradecal. It is intended for the special color scheme of the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 which in the 2021 season flew the display program of the Royal Air Force under the name Blackjack. The package holds decals, not a model — the kit, paints and glue have to be obtained separately. The make-up of the sheet, that is, whether it also holds technical lettering and stencils, is given in the enclosed instructions.
The Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 is the British designation of the multirole version of the European combat aircraft with canard foreplanes and a delta wing, powered by a pair of EJ200 engines. For each air show season the Royal Air Force sets aside one machine and one pilot for display flights at public events; such a machine tends to be given a special color scheme for the season in question, which is removed once the program ends. The color scheme of the 2021 season carried the nickname Blackjack. It is precisely the temporary nature of these schemes that is the reason separate decal sheets are issued for them — they do not get into ordinary kits.
Display schemes tend to be large-area and divided up, so it is advisable to work in parts and to lay the sheet out dry on the model first. The base has to be glossy and fully hardened. Transfer large decals onto the model together with the backing and only then slide them off, otherwise they break easily. On the transitions between the fuselage, the canards and the leading edges, use decal softener in several light doses and do not move the film in the meantime. Seal the finished markings with varnish — with display machines usually gloss or semi-gloss.
It is a decal sheet, not a model. The kit, paints, glue and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
