Replacement wheels with a cross tread pattern for a model of the Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The main wheels of the B-17F Flying Fortress bomber retracted into the inboard engine nacelles only partly, so the bottom of the tire stayed visible in flight. The tread on the tires differed according to which supplier the machine got its tires from. This set gives the pattern with a cross tread, that is one with intersecting diamonds.
Replacement wheels for a B-17F model in 1:48 scale that replace the parts from the kit. How many pieces the package contains and whether the tire and the hub are separate are given in the enclosed manufacturer's instructions. In material they are not polystyrene, so the parts are bonded with super glue, not with modeling cement for plastic.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully, so that the tread is not disturbed. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the coat will not hold on them. The seating of the axle may call for a small adjustment, so line the wheel up with the kit before gluing. The particular procedure and any differences from the kit parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits the modeler who wants the tread on a model to match a particular machine, or simply a crisper rendering than a plastic part allows. Check the tread pattern against a photograph of the aircraft you are building, because other variants exist as well. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
