A detail set of the interior of the bombardier's station for the Boeing B-17G in 1:48 scale for modelers who want to fill out the glazed nose of the bomber. The accessory is aimed at the Monogram kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for a build, not a model of the aircraft. The set relates to the inner fitting out of the forward part of the fuselage of the Boeing B-17G in 1:48 scale, that is to the bombardier's workplace. It is precisely this space that is visible on the Flying Fortress through the extensive glazing of the nose, and in injection-molded kits it tends to be worked out only in a basic form. A well worked-out interior will make a noticeable difference here, because the viewer looks into it straight from outside. The accessory is fitted to the Monogram kit; that is not in the package.
The Boeing B-17G was the most numerously built version of the Flying Fortress, and it is told from the older versions mainly by the gun turret under the nose. The bombardier sat right at the front in the glazed tip, operated the bombsight and during the bomb run in effect took over the handling of the aircraft. Around him was a cramped space full of instruments, control panels and fastening elements, because the navigator's station and the defensive armament of the nose fitted in here as well.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, otherwise a primer will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw under a magnifier; they are small castings. Resin parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Try the whole assembly out dry before the halves of the fuselage are glued together. Paint and weather it beforehand, because once the glazing is fitted you will no longer reach inside. A dark wash into the corners proves itself, fine drawing out of the edges and a different shade for the instrument panels.
