1:48 Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress engines is a resin add-on set from Eduard with faithful engines for a model of the bomber. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale that replaces the simplified plastic engines of the four-engined B-17G bomber with detailed resin castings. A radial engine is visible on the model through the opening in the cowling and is one of the places where the difference between plastic out of the box and a casting shows at first glance. It is an accessory that is glued into a model, not an aircraft kit.
The Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress was an American four-engined heavy bomber of the Second World War, powered by air-cooled radial engines with turbochargers, thanks to which it kept its performance at high altitude. The G version is the most numerous variant of the type and is recognized by the chin turret under the nose. The engine nacelles with their exhaust and cooling systems form four prominent assemblies on the model that draw the eye.
First wash the resin castings in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, and on the small cylinders proceed carefully so that the fins do not break off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with super glue; cement for plastic will not bond resin. A radial engine looks good with a dark metallic base, over which a wash is put into the recesses and the edges are gently gone over with a dry brush in a lighter shade. Finally try the assembly dry in the cowling, so that the propeller shaft lines up.
This is an add-on set, not a model kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
