The cut masking films 1:48 Boston III/US DB-7B from the Czech maker Eduard cover the framing of the cockpit, the glazed nose and the wheel hubs. The templates are prepared for the shape of the particular aircraft; nothing has to be cut freehand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package consists of thin masking films in a pliable paper material, pre-cut into the shape of the individual frames of the canopy, of the glazed nose section and of the wheel hubs. The template is laid on the clear part, the framing is sprayed over it, and once it is removed the glass stays clean and the edge of the transition sharp. The dimensions correspond to the twin-engine Douglas bomber in the Boston Mk.III and the American DB-7B versions, 1:48 scale. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard from Obrnice near Most.
The DB-7 type came into being in the second half of the 1930s as a fast light bomber with nose wheel landing gear, which was a novelty at the time. The machines designated Boston Mk.III took part from 1942 in daylight raids at low altitude over occupied Europe, where it was mainly speed near the ground that protected them from fighters. The glazed nose with the navigator's station is among the most conspicuous features of the type and it is precisely that which gives the most work when building a model.
Lift the parts with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, lay them on dry and press them down with a toothpick, so that the material follows the curve of the glass. Apply the paint in thin layers; a heavy coat peels off under the edge of the template. Take the film off while the varnish is still only tacky.
The package holds the masking films only; neither plastic parts nor paints belong to them.
