The Brazilian MAA-1 Piranha air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale is a resin accessory for a store under the wing of an aircraft model being built.
Responsibility details are not available.
A casting of a Brazilian short-range air-to-air guided missile developed by the Mectron company. It serves for hanging on a finished model of an aircraft; on its own it is not a model. For a collection of machines of South American air forces it is armament that an ordinary European or American kit does not have in the package.
The Piranha came about as a home Brazilian program at a time when importing modern armament was complicated. It is a missile with infrared guidance, that is one that seeks its target by a heat signature and needs no support from the carrier after launch. It was carried by light combat and training machines of the Brazilian Air Force, with which it appeared on the wingtip stations.
First rinse the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that a remnant of the molding agent does not prevent the coat from adhering. Separate the sprue remnant by a cut, not by breaking it off, and level the surface with a file. Hold the joints with cyanoacrylate glue. The fins and stabilizers tend to be thin, so handle the part by the body of the missile. A white or light gray body is drawn out by discreet shading of the grooves, but on such a small part less is more.
