This small detail set from the Czech maker Hauler captures the British Pyrene type fire extinguisher in 1:48 scale. It combines a resin casting with fine photo-etched parts in order to render the shape of the brass body, the pump and the bracket faithfully. It is not a model of a vehicle: it is a diorama and equipment accessory with which you bring to life the interior of a vehicle, a firing position or a rear-area scene.
Pyrene is a type of period hand fire extinguisher with a brass body and a plunger pump, common in the vehicles and rear areas of the British and Allied armies, above all in the period of the Second World War. It was a characteristic item of the equipment of its day.
Wash the resin part free of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks; separate the photo-etched parts on a hard surface. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The brass body will come off well with a metallic base and a light sheen, and the bracket is set apart in a darker tone; do any sanding with respiratory protection.
This is an accessory set, not a model of a vehicle in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the equipment are not included in the package.
