A kit of the classic Bücker Bü 131 training biplane in its D version in 1:48 scale from RS models. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Scale 1:48 makes sense for a small biplane: the finished model is compact but stays large enough for the build of the fuselage, the cockpits and the interplane struts to stand out.
The Bü 131 Jungmann is a two-seat training biplane of mixed construction from the middle of the 1930s, with open cockpits arranged one behind the other and fixed landing gear. It was powered by an air-cooled inline engine. The aircraft was designed for basic pilot training and thanks to its pleasant flying qualities it spread to a whole range of countries, where it was also built under license. The D version saw the most extensive service of the type, and a number of machines stayed in use long after the war, in civil hands and at air shows to this day. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: colorful civil and military schemes and the classic biplane silhouette.
Small biplanes call for patience when building the wing structure. Set the wings and the struts together dry first, so that you learn the real angles, and only then glue them. Glue the plastic parts with thin polystyrene cement and any resin or photo-etched additions with super glue. The interior of the open cockpits is clearly visible on this type, so finish and paint it before closing the fuselage. Add the bracing wires only after spraying and after applying the decals. A light filter or a very subtle shadow emphasis suits fabric with a visible rib structure and brings the shape of the covering out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
