1:48 C6N1 and 1-S Saiun closed is a Dead Design masking set for the carrier-borne reconnaissance aircraft Nakajima C6N1 and its night fighter form C6N1-S with a closed canopy, in 1:48 scale.

The name of the set expressly gives the closed state of the canopy, and that is a fundamental difference: the masks are cut to the shape the glazing has when the cockpit is closed. For a model with the canopy slid back a separate variant exists, because different surfaces are covered on it.
The Saiun was a carrier-borne reconnaissance aircraft built around a single requirement: to outrun everything that chased it. With a crew of three under long glazing and with a powerful radial engine it managed that so well that American fighters had trouble even catching up with it. The C6N1-S form is a later conversion into a night fighter, in which one crew member was dropped from the fuselage and obliquely firing armament was added against night raids.
Before you start masking, make sure the canopy really is glued in the closed position and that it sits with no gap: masks cut for the closed state cannot be fitted to a part left ajar. The glazing of the Saiun is long and divided into several sections, so lay the pieces of the mask out beforehand in the order in which they will go onto the model. Spray the frames in the interior shade first and only then with the upper camouflage; the transition between the two layers will look convincing from both sides once the mask is lifted.
