A set of three 20 liter jerrycans in 1:48 scale from Metallic Details. A resin diorama accessory for aircraft and ground equipment alike; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds three castings of the 20 liter fuel jerrycan in 1:48 scale from Metallic Details. It is an accessory for a diorama or a vignette, not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft. The castings are resin and are supplied unpainted.
The 20 liter sheet metal jerrycan is among the most widespread pieces of field equipment: it is carried on fenders, on the back of a cargo bed, on trailers and around an airfield yard, from the Second World War to the present day. The set is therefore not tied to a single subject: it works in an aviation scene, with wheeled and tracked equipment, and just as well in a civilian diorama. Three pieces cover the typical load of one vehicle or the corner of a workshop.
Wash the resin castings in warm soapy water before painting, as the remains of the mold release agent would otherwise stop the paint from keying. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc rather than with sprue cutters, because resin is brittle. Sand wet and wear respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). After a primer and the base shade the jerrycans come into their own above all through detail: a dark wash into the pressed ribs and the handles, light scuffs on the edges and a touch of dust around the bottom. Slightly different base shades on the individual pieces look more realistic than one uniform coat.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
