Responsibility details are not available.
A resin add-on set of landing gear wheels for the kit of the CH-46 Sea Knight transport helicopter in 1:48. It is not a helicopter model but a replacement for the wheels from the plastic kit. The tires are cast with a bulge where they touch the ground, which on a helicopter standing with its full weight on the gear is an even more pronounced detail than on an airplane.
The Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight was an American medium transport helicopter with two main rotors in tandem. It served for decades carrying troops and cargo, supplying ships and flying rescue missions. It stood on fixed landing gear with four wheels, the front pair smaller than the rear. Wheels are at their most visibly loaded on helicopters, because the machine gets no relief from wing lift and the tire visibly spreads under the weight.
Wash the parts in warm water with dish soap so that no mold release agent clings to them. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the contact face so that all the wheels stand on one plane – on a helicopter a wheel seated crooked shows at once. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Sand wet and with your airways protected, and apply primer before painting. Paint the tire a dark gray rather than black, add dust on the sides and a light wipe on the tread. On machines in service it also pays to bring out the traces of oil around the hubs.
This is an add-on set, not a model kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
