A set of precisely pre-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the American Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter, in its CH-47C version and the British HC-1, in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and it is not a model — it is an accessory that makes it easy to paint the cockpit glazing and other areas cleanly. The Chinook has extensive cockpit glazing and a row of side windows, so the masks save a lot of work here; they stick straight onto the parts and the framing gets sharp, straight edges without any laborious cutting of masking tape. Sets of this type usually also include circular masks for the wheel rims.
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is an American heavy transport helicopter with two main rotors in tandem and no tail rotor. Its lifting capacity lets it carry troops, artillery and bulky cargo both in the cabin and as an underslung load. The CH-47C version was a more powerful variant, and under the designation HC-1 the Chinook served with the Royal Air Force (RAF). Its intricate glazing gives the masks plenty to do.
Lift each mask off the backing carefully with tweezers or the tip of a knife and lay it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down firmly so that paint cannot bleed underneath. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat hardens completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
