An injection-molded plastic model of the modern light fighter FC-1 Fierce Dragon, known in Pakistani service as the JF-17 Thunder, in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. The kit offers a finely rendered fuselage and wings, a rich load of external stores and tanks, and photo-etched parts for fine detail are in the box as well. The decals cover both a Chinese and a Pakistani machine.
The FC-1 Xiaolong / JF-17 Thunder is a single-engine light multi-role fighter developed in cooperation between China and Pakistan (Chengdu / PAC). It was created as a low-cost but capable 4th generation combat aircraft meant to replace older types. It handles air combat as well as attacks on ground targets and carries a wide range of guided and unguided munitions and drop tanks. It became the backbone of the Pakistan Air Force thanks to the combination of low cost and modern avionics.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the joints carefully. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Lay a good base coat (primer) before painting; modern low-contrast gray camouflage comes out best with an airbrush and fine shading of the panels. Paint the rich load of external stores separately and fit them at the very end; a final fine wash will bring out the panel lines of the airframe.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
