An accessory cast in resin which replaces the cockpit of the base kit with a more faithful and more varied version. On a model with an open canopy the cockpit is the most closely watched part, because it can be looked into from close up, and a plastic molding has limits here set by the technology of the mold. The set is not a model of the aircraft on its own and assumes a kit in 1:48 scale.
The Su-34 is a Russian twin-engine attack aircraft derived from the Su-27 family. It differs markedly from the other machines of the family in its forward fuselage: it has a widened cockpit with two seats side by side and entry from below. This layout makes the interior unusually roomy, and on a model with an open canopy far more of it is visible than on an ordinary fighter.
First cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap. Then comes the most important step: repeated dry fitting. The resin tub usually has to be sanded down, so that the fuselage halves close without pressure, or the joint will open after gluing. Paint and weather the cockpit completely off the model, while there is access to every corner. Finally check whether the canopy can be closed, and only then glue the fuselage.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
