The package holds a separate sheet of decals in 1:48 scale for plastic models of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. It is not a kit or a resin accessory but printed decals with which you assign a particular color scheme and marking to a model. The Furball Aero-Design range for this type runs in numbered parts, and this item is the tenth part. What exactly the sheet offers is described in the instructions supplied.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, operated from the aircraft carriers of the US Navy. Carrier service is exactly what makes Tomcats a rewarding modeling subject: the machines carried colorful squadron markings and clear service lettering, and traces of use built up on them quickly. The combination of a large fuselage area and dense marking means that the share of decals in the final look of a model is above average on this type.
Work in groups rather than piece by piece at random, so that you keep the right and left sides symmetrical. The base has to be glossy and dry. Apply large motifs, for example the artwork on the vertical tails, to an area lightly dampened with water beforehand, so that they can still be moved for a while. On lettering across engraved lines a stronger setting solution and several repeated applications help, or else slit the decal lightly with a sharp point exactly along the line once it is dry and soften it again. Finally fix everything with a varnish of the degree of gloss you want.
This is a separate set of decals. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
