This is an accessory, not a model of the ship in its own right. The set holds fine photo-etched brass parts for markedly refining plastic models of the Japanese heavy cruiser Myoko of the Second World War in 1:350 scale. It replaces and supplements the coarser plastic elements with markedly finer ones that cannot otherwise be molded on a model of this size. The set is cut for the Aoshima kit.
Photo-etch of this class typically includes railings, ladders, cranes, platforms, radars, parts of superstructures and other fine detail. The result is a substantially more faithful and more intricate model that stands up to a close look. The exact contents follow the instructions enclosed in the set.
Photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife or with special photo-etch shears on a hard surface, bent with a bender or a ruler and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate), or soldered with low-temperature solder. Before painting it is advisable to degrease the parts and treat them with a primer for metal. The work calls for patience and fine tools.
The set does not hold the ship model itself, plastic parts, paints or glue; it is a stand-alone photo-etched detail set.
