This set of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale offers markings for the military version of the twin-engine de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide biplane, known in the armed forces as the Dominie. It covers a varied range of users from different countries and war years. The decals are meant for a matching plastic model; the model itself is not included in the package.
The DH.89 Dragon Rapide came about in the 1930s as an elegant short-haul airliner, and in military service it proved itself as a liaison, courier and training aircraft and as a flying classroom for radio navigation. Its all-wood structure with fabric covering and its classic biplane layout make it a rewarding subject for collectors of interwar and wartime aircraft. The set covers aircraft in British and overseas service.
Apply the decals over gloss varnish so that no silvering appears under the film. Settle the smaller roundels and lettering with a decal softener and shape the fabric areas with a setting solution, which pulls the film down onto the ribbing. Protect the finished markings with a final varnish.
