A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the German Dornier Do 217K-1 bomber. The kit is not included, unless stated otherwise.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Do 217K-1 is one of the versions of the German twin-engine Dornier Do 217 bomber, which followed on in design from the lighter Do 17. The K series machines have a smoothly glazed nose without the stepped windscreen of the cockpit, so they can be told from the older forms at a glance. In 1:48 scale this is a large model, on which shortcomings in detail show up clearly.
The set brings photo-etched metal parts from Eduard. Metal replaces the places where a plastic part is always thicker than it should be in scale: thin edges, grilles, loops, buckles and small panels. Which Do 217K-1 kit the set completes and where the individual parts go is given in the manufacturer's instructions, which also set out the order of work.
Before you start, prepare fine tweezers, a sharp blade and a rigid work surface, ideally a piece of glass or a sheet of hard plastic. Cut through the tab holding the part rather than tearing it off; a torn part is usually bent and cannot be straightened without leaving a mark. Make the bend along the etched line and finish it against a straight edge so that it comes out the same along its whole length. Try the part dry before fitting it and sand the plastic underneath away if needed. Finally degrease the metal and spray it with a primer for metal, and only then apply the covering shade.
The box contains the photo-etched fret. The kit, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
