This photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard adds fine metal detail to a plastic kit of the Dornier Do 335A-12 Pfeil in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory that replaces and sharpens up selected plastic parts of the kit. It typically includes items for the interior and the exterior alike — instrument panels, seat belts, levers and small covers — etched into thin metal.
The Do 335A-12 was the two-seat trainer version of the German Pfeil fighter, with a second, raised cockpit for the instructor behind the pilot. It kept the characteristic arrangement of two engines with a tractor and a pusher propeller; only a handful were completed before the end of the war.
The photo-etched parts are cut out of the fret, bent along the pre-scored lines and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate); on larger surfaces a two-part adhesive helps. We recommend tweezers, a photo-etch bending tool and patience: the set is meant for more experienced modelers.
This is a detail accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
