A kit of the Douglas A-4C Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Polish brand Hobby 2000. The Skyhawk is among the most popular carrier subjects of all: it is small, clean in shape and wore varied color schemes, so it does not take up much room in a display case and yet there is plenty to look at.
The Skyhawk was designed by Ed Heinemann's team as a deliberately small and light carrier bomber, and its short delta wing worked out so economically that on a carrier aircraft it did without folding. The A-4C version was the first to receive a radar and a limited capability to attack in poor visibility; it was powered by a Wright J65 turbojet, that is the British Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire built under license. Only the later versions, starting with the A-4E, moved to the stronger J52 engine from Pratt & Whitney, which is the main technical divide in the family. The C models served with the Navy and the Marine Corps, and some of the machines were later converted to the A-4L standard.
Finish and spray the cockpit before you close the fuselage; later you will no longer reach it. On carrier machines it pays to allow for weight in the nose. Coat the model with a gloss varnish before the decals, so that no silvery edges of film appear, and then unify the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish. The white and gray naval scheme is merciless to imperfect sanding, so tune the seams before the primer.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. You will not find paints or glue in the package.
