A photo-etched set of metal accessories in 1:48 scale for a model of the Douglas TBD-1 carrier torpedo aircraft with the nickname Devastator.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas TBD-1 carrier torpedo aircraft, nicknamed the Devastator, served with the US Navy from the second half of the 1930s. It was an all-metal low-wing machine with folding wings, a crew of three and roomy cockpit glazing, which today is among the most striking features of any model of the type. In the fighting in the Pacific the machine could no longer keep up in either speed or defense, and after Midway it disappeared from the decks.
A fret of thin metal sheet with pieces held on tabs. Metal allows a thickness a plastic part cannot have, so it suits every place where the material on the real subject should be thin. Which particular parts of the model the set covers and which kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Work on a light surface, because small parts are easily lost. Separate them with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the burr. Bend them over a straight metal edge or in a bender. Glue with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin. Degrease the surface before painting and give it a primer.
For a modeler who wants to go beyond what the plastic in the box offers in 1:48 scale and has the patience and the tweezers for it. Go through the whole set of instructions before building: some of the elements belong in the interior and are fitted before the fuselage halves are joined, so you cannot add them afterward. The kit for the model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
