The Douglas TBD-1 Devastator SPACE in 1:48 scale is a set of 3D decals from Eduard for the interior of the carrier torpedo aircraft. An accessory to a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Decals with a raised relief for the cockpit of the American carrier torpedo aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set from the SPACE line does away with fine hand painting of the instruments and the side panels. The cockpit of this type is long and glazed along its whole length, so on a finished model the interior is hardly hidden at all and every unfinished spot shows.
The TBD was an American carrier torpedo aircraft which at the close of the 1930s was among the most modern machines of its kind: an all-metal structure, folding wings, an enclosed cockpit and hydraulically operated landing gear. Within a few years, however, development overtook it, and by 1942 it was flying against Japanese formations with low speed and weak defense. In the battle of Midway the torpedo squadrons with this type suffered heavy losses and the machine was withdrawn from the front line shortly afterward.
First paint the seat, the side walls and the panel and let them cure. Release the individual features with a cut along the outline and transfer them with tweezers. Check the fit dry first, because once a feature has been pressed down it cannot be shifted easily. Press from the center out to the edges. Anyone building the cockpit closed can leave out the panels that will not be visible anyway and concentrate on the panel and the frame.
The package holds decals for the interior. The model, the paints and the varnish do not go with it, unless stated otherwise.
