A set of photo-etched parts in metal sheet for a model of the carrier-borne EA-18G electronic warfare aircraft in 1:48 scale. An accessory to a kit for finer detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The EA-18G is an American carrier-borne aircraft meant for electronic warfare. It is derived from the two-seat version of the Super Hornet, so it kept the rectangular air intakes, the large wing area and the crew seated one behind the other; in place of some of the armament, though, it carries equipment for jamming enemy radars, including pods on the racks under the wing. For modelers it is a rewarding subject precisely because of that rich load under the wing.
These are photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Thin metal sheet holds a sharp edge where a plastic part would come across as coarse, and it therefore suits small panels, grilles, loops and the equipment of spaces on view. Which parts the package holds and where on the model they belong are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer; check with those how much plastic has to be removed before fitting as well.
Separate the parts with a fresh blade on a hard surface, because a blunt blade bends the sheet. Bend along the whole length of the edge and in one movement; metal does not take repeated bending and will crack at the fold. For gluing use cyanoacrylate laid on with a pin, because cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Smooth metal has to be degreased and undercoated with a primer before painting. Fit and paint the parts that lie inside the fuselage or in the cockpit before you close the model up.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
