The limited edition Eagle's Call from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains two complete injection-molded plastic models of the legendary British fighter Supermarine Spitfire – the Mk.Vb and Mk.Vc versions – in 1:48 scale. It is a Dual Combo release with ProfiPACK-level equipment: photo-etched parts, self-adhesive painting masks and a generous decal sheet. The edition is devoted to the American pilots who flew with the Royal Air Force and later with the USAAF; the package offers twelve marking options for aircraft flown by North American pilots.
The Supermarine Spitfire is one of the most famous fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.V version was one of its most widespread forms; the letter after the type designates the type of wing and armament – the Mk.Vb carried a combination of machine guns and 20 mm cannon, while the Mk.Vc had the universal wing that could carry up to four cannon. These Spitfires fought over Europe as well as in the Mediterranean and North Africa. The name of the edition refers to the American volunteers of the Eagle Squadrons, who entered the war before the United States formally joined it.
First assemble and paint the cockpit – you will use the photo-etched belts and the instrument panel – and only then close up the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing with the masks supplied so that it stays clear. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched elements with cyanoacrylate glue. A primer, an airbrush and a gloss coat under the decals for perfect adhesion are the way to go.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
