A material for free use, not a kit and not a set for a particular model. A thin metal plate 100x50 mm overall carries a regular texture etched over the whole area, which the maker Hauler designates as the German early type - that is, a pattern linked with vehicles of the earlier period of the Second World War. It differs from the late type, which the manufacturer offers separately.
A plastic molding either has no texture at all, or it is so soft that it blends into its surroundings once a base coat is sprayed on. A metal plate gives a surface a sharp relief and keeps it even under several coats of paint. It is used on the upper surfaces of hulls and superstructures, hatches, side plates, covers and on diorama items.
On a textured surface, painting matters more than gluing. First degrease the metal with alcohol and go over it with a thin coat of base - a thick coat rounds the relief off. Apply the covering paint with an airbrush in several translucent coats, not in one thick spray. Then bring the relief out with a dark wash that runs into the hollows, and once dry with light drybrushing in a lighter shade along the edges of the pattern. Finally a matte varnish is useful, so that the surface does not shine and the texture stays legible even under the light of a display case.
This is an accessory material, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
