About product

EXPAL BRP-250, a Spanish aviation bomb, 1:48, RESArm

An aftermarket 3D-printed resin set of aircraft bombs in 1:48 scale from RESArm. It is not a standalone model but an accessory for arming finished models of jet aircraft. The parts are printed in high resolution with fine relief on the casing, the retarding mechanism and the stabilizing surfaces.

The real subject

The EXPAL BRP-250 is a Spanish aircraft bomb in the roughly 250 kg class in a retarded version for release from low altitude, from the production of Explosivos Alaveses (EXPAL). In design it derives from the American Mark 80 series. It was exported to a number of countries and was carried by tactical aircraft of the Mirage, A-4 and F-5 types.

Building and painting tips

Wash the uncured resin residue off the parts, cut them from the print supports and clean up the faces. The retarding mechanism is delicate, so work carefully. They are bonded with super glue. A primer, an airbrush and bringing the detail out with a wash are advisable.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers of tactical aircraft in 1:48
  • Anyone interested in armament accurate to its period and nation
  • Builders used to working with resin and super glue

The set contains the resin parts of the bombs; any marking decals are as described. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
