The 1:48 scale is the most widespread one for add-on sets, because the model is large enough for the detail to tell and still fits into a display case without trouble. The scope of the set varies from item to item within this line, so go by the data on the packaging.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was an American fighter of the Century series and the first production aircraft of the US Air Force able to exceed the speed of sound in straight and level flight. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet with an afterburner. Its characteristic features are the oval air intake in the nose, the sharply swept wing and the low-set horizontal tail. Alongside the single-seat versions a two-seat trainer variant was built as well, and during its service the aircraft was used more and more as a tactical bomber.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water before the build to remove any mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and never snap them. Level the mating surfaces with abrasive paper and sand wet with respiratory protection. Bonding is done with super glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin. Apply a primer before painting, as paint would otherwise grip poorly on a smooth casting. Check the fit dry and only then glue. Once a joint has been filled, restore the panel lines with a scriber and sand the area wet with fine paper.
The add-on set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
