The turned metal MASTER 1:48 F-100 Super Sabre pitot boom replaces the plastic airspeed sensor on the nose of a model and is both more accurate and more durable.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal detail part, not an aircraft model. It replaces the plastic pitot boom (airspeed sensor) on the nose of a North American F-100 Super Sabre model in 1:48 scale. The metal part has accurate geometry and will not snap.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was an American jet fighter, the first production machine capable of exceeding the speed of sound in level flight. It served from the mid-1950s and proved itself as a fighter-bomber as well, among other places in the Vietnam War. The pitot boom projected from the nose of the fuselage and is a conspicuous element of the silhouette of the aircraft, so a faithful and accurate rendering of it does a model a great deal of good.
Cut the plastic boom off and glue the metal part in its place with cyanoacrylate. The metal boom survives ordinary handling of a finished model with none of the risk of bending or snapping that thin plastic carries. Before painting, go over the part with a primer for better adhesion, and make sure that once glued in it lines up with the axis of the nose.
This is not a complete model. The part does not include glue, paints or a kit.
