A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the American North American F-100C Super Sabre jet in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model — it is an accessory that makes it easier to paint the canopy glazing and other small surfaces cleanly. The masks are stuck directly onto the parts, so the framing of the single-seat canopy gains sharp straight edges without laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this kind usually include circular masks for the wheel hubs as well, which make it easier to separate the tire from the rim.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was an American fighter of the mid-1950s and the first production fighter able to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. The single-seat C version was improved for the fighter-bomber role and received an in-flight refueling system and strengthened armament under the wings. Its flat oval nose air intake and one-piece canopy are a rewarding place to use masks.
Carefully lift the mask off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and lay it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully so that paint does not seep under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the layer has hardened completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
