This set brings resin castings of the landing gear bay for the American McDonnell F-101A/C Voodoo fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory that replaces the shallow or simplified bay from the kit with a faithful space showing the relief of the walls, bracing and lines. The landing gear then looks far more realistic.
The F-101 Voodoo was an American supersonic machine powered by two J57-series engines. The F-101A and F-101C versions served as tactical fighter-bombers and also carried nuclear armament. The rugged landing gear matched the size and weight of the machine.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw or break them off and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit the bay after cleaning up the mating surfaces and check the fit with the fuselage before the glue sets. Shade the interior with a light base color, bring out the recesses with dark streaking and weather it gently for the look of service wear.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
