An Armory wheel set for models of the Lockheed F-104 in the two versions that the designation of the product carries: the two-seat F-104F and the multirole F-104G. The tires are shaped as weighted, and part of the designation is also a mention of optional nose wheels, so the builder can choose the version. The product is described as retooled, that is made from a newer mold than the older variant of the same item.
The Starfighter was designed around performance: a slender fuselage, short straight wings with a sharp leading edge and a single powerful engine. It flew fast and high, but a pilot could not expect it to forgive mistakes. The F-104F was a two-seat training version obtained for the needs of training in Germany, whereas the F-104G became the most widespread European variant and served with a number of NATO states and beyond.
The landing gear of the Starfighter is subtle and the leg parts thin, so a well cast wheel with a clearly legible hub lifts the impression of the finished piece unexpectedly strongly. Consider whether you are building a machine with the nose wheel in the base or the alternative version and choose according to your subject. Direct the weighting perpendicular to the ground and before gluing check that the model does not stand on tiptoe.
